My Politics

Given recent events occurring in Iowa (I mean the Iowa primaries) I thought it'd be pertinent to outline my own political beliefs. Please note, these are all in the context of the U.S. politics, and represent only my own informed and uninformed opinions. Your disagreement is not an invitation to attack me. However you're welcome to leave a comment, per usual.

Technical Faux Pas

Due to an unfortunate accident, many of the photos on my blog have been deleted/mysteriously disappeared. Expect to see some irregularities while I slowly, laboriously replace them from my offline back-ups.

Also! I will be branching out my blog into various sub-blogs focusing on fictional pieces, socio-political commentary, and my personal life + things I like. Expect to see more changes as the blogolution continues!

Conversations of a Genderous Nature

Seems there was something of a kerfuffle over at The Good Men Project. Resident writers from many sides came out in support, condemnation, or some combination thereof on the subject of Male Guilt.

Now, as a self-avowed Masculist, I willfully acknowledge that my bias skews towards men in this discussion. As a man who has suffered, not just at the hands of woman, but from society in general for no better reason than my gender, I can attest to my own prejudice hard-learned from experience.

I don't deny my privilege, nor do I deny my power. But I refuse to deny my own suffering.

Which is why when a prominent, self-described and widely acknowledged Feminist -- AKA Hugo Schwyzer -- makes the argument that all men, by virtue of being men, are guilty of rape until proven innocent, I can only register one emotion.

Post-Apocalyptic B-Boyz

I'm always fascinated by the sheer creativity of breaking, b-boying, and urban dance. Here's an awesome video that appeared in my YouTube queue.

Restless Breathe

I'm currently unable to sleep due to projectile coughing. I never knew I had so much phlegm, or that it was so aerodynamic.

Anyways, as I sit on the couch drinking tea with lemon, ginger & honey listening to Wayne Brady's Change Is Gonna Come, I can't help but reflect on my past actions over the course of between this month and the last...

The Seven Near-Death Experiences of Zek J Evets: Pt. 7

I have been procrastinating this final chapter on the 7 times I have almost died. And while it would be easy to blame a busy work schedule, hectic college education, romance, housemate drama, or the pursuit of other artistic endeavours, the reality is far more... shameful.

See, despite my seemingly cool exterior, despite the well-crafted response to life that is my personality, I am capable of being someone who I regretfully cannot look in the mirror sometimes.

This NDE occurred during my first year of SF living, back in early 2008.

New Music in my Life

Been listening to a lot of great tunes recently, from Cage the Elephant and Wax Tailor, to Brandtson and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

But what's really got me nodding my head is this "Golden Oldy" by The Coasters, Down in Mexico.

My Life with the Housemates from Hell

If only this story was about one of the above...

Well, I'm back! This post has been long in the thinking, planning, and writing, but now I can (at last) reveal it. As of today I have finally moved in with my girlfriend. [Pauses for applause.] Thank you, thank you. And since I am no longer interested in "keeping the peace" with my housemates for fear of any reprisal against my stuff, my deposit, or my person, I will now tell ya'll a story that will surely make you glad to be you -- and not me.

[Author's note: post contains strong language. Certain details have been altered to protect privacy, and prevent lawsuits.]
