In The News Today

I've recently been taking my lunch-break between classes in the Caesar Chavez dining hall on campus, which is the only place where I can watch free TV. The choices are news-channels, or ESPN. I pick the news.

So far this week isn't looking too good for the world. What's happening recently?

America is the new Rome

"There was once a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish... it was so fragile."

Let us whisper here for a time...

Before we get to Cullen Murphy and Peter Merel, I'd like to begin at my own attempts to understand our strange and powerful country.

Where'd Everything Go

This story is a piece I started working on over a year ago, but only recently began polishing it into something real. The ending is a bit contrived, because I don't haven't figured out where the story ends, however I think you'll still enjoy it.

White / Jewish

I found this great article on [Feministe] yesterday, and it led me to this article at [Racialicious] which then led me on a long journey of Wikipedia, Google, and random soft-drinks, rediscovering my own Jewish identity that has become -- for me, and many young American Jews -- submerged because of our need to assimilate.

In both these articles, the authors make mention of what it's like not to know what it means to be "Jewish".

For me, that was never a problem. I was always aware that I was/am Jewish. Maybe not what it meant, or why it mattered, but I never forgot. Nobody would let me.

Webcomic Betterness

Couldn't resist sharing this amazing find via DeviantART. It's a cartoon illustrating the perfect single nice-guy fantasy -- AKA, me, in my younger years.

Be sure to view it in full-mode. Simply click the image, and enjoy!

So... It's been a while since my last post. Sorry. Been kinda busy with various things: school, work, music, writing, girlfriend, monetary schemes, and random projects.

How have ya'll been? Good? Good. You're participation -- however passive or passing -- is greatly appreciated. I only regret that I'll have to keep you in limbo for a while longer. What with the end of the university semester, impending visits, and all sorts of other happenings, I won't be able to blog as regularly as I usually do.

However, stay tuned for the summer posts! They'll be hawt and uhh... awesome.

Epic Fail Humanity

Recently trolled through the interwebs, reconnecting with the world via news-feeds. I found this story at Democracy Now!, a highly useful site devoted to giving people an alternative perspective to that found among corporate-controlled media. (Yes, they're even more radical/awesome than MSNBC.)

Rediscovered Quotes

Was trolling through my quote collection when I found a few gems that I wrote a looong time ago. Thought I'd share them with ya'll.

"When thinking doesn't overlap with talking — that's subtext."

"Some of us are so crazy already that madness only makes us saner."

"Choice is both a truth and a lie. Yes, we may choose the course of our lives, but ultimately we are bound by the collective in which we reside."

"The most arrogant form of humility is to call yourself low, when you know you are great."

"Never allow someone to be your priority when you're just their option."

Aren't I so good at rhetoric? Don't mind my obvious self-promotion. Just been running dry on blog-ideas, what with a busy semester.
