Upcoming events in my neighborhood

Dear reader,

This Friday, May 8th, 2009, at approximately 9 o'clock, I will be playing a show at the Cafe International with my good friend Avaghys Ghyslain and the rest of his band. We will be the feature act of the weekly open-mic. This is obviously impressive and important, so you should come by to see us.

The music will be an eclectic mix of African, French, reggae, ska, folk, and other randomness through a combination of Avaghys on guitar/percussion, Jacopo on bass, Sarah on drums, and Yours Truly on saxophone. We are amazing - like fat burritos only better - and we're free, for this night at least.

In case you're wondering where the hell the Cafe is, the cross streets are Haight & Fillmore, in the lower-Haight neighborhood of San Francisco. (My apologies to all of those who don't live in the BA and have to miss this awesome show. Your life is officially not worth living. Best kill yourself. Would you like a sharp or blunt instrument?) The open-mic itself starts at 7:30, but most people show up around 8, and again the feature - that's us - goes on between 9 and 9:15. No charge at the door, though I'd recommend supporting the Cafe itself by at least buying a beverage, or something.

You're welcome to sign-up for the open-mic while you're hanging out, and there's lots of other things to do in the neighborhood, like drinking and revelry. Please walk responsibly, because cab-drivers WILL run you over should your drunken-stumble send you their way.

(That last part was mostly a joke.)

Anyhoo, I hope to see all ya'll there! Or some of ya'll, a few of ya'll, a couple familiar-ish faces... and maybe some new ones too? I'll try not to get ahead of myself.
